Cancer Society Raises more than $60.000
Congratulations from the Team at Pegasus Rental Cars Marlborough to all the people who helped raise money for the Cancr Society.
The Marlborough Cancer Society collected more than $60,000 on Daffodil Day on Friday last week, finance and events co-ordinator Hilary Gill said today.
Final tallies would take a few weeks to come in but the society was pleased the sum raised was similar to previous years, Mrs Gill said.
She was grateful to the daffodil growers who came to the rescue when a light crop this year meant a shortage looked likely. Volunteer pickers from Blenheim South Rotary went out on to some new blocks which "certainly made a difference".
On Daffodil Day, the Marlborough Community College ran a lunch fundraiser for the Marlborough Cancer Society in Market Place in the centre of Blenheim. The Marlborough Community Craft Fair at Tuamarina donated their proceeds and several schools and pre-schools also collected money for the cause.
