Tim Cossar for Te Puia
The board of Rotorua’s New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, trading as Te Puia, has appointed Tim Cossar as its new chief executive. He will step down from his current role as chief executive of Tourism Industry Association New Zealand early in the New Year, having headed TIA since 2008.
Institute chairman Harry Burkhardt says his board is delighted to have attracted someone of Tim Cossar’s calibre to take over leadership at Te Puia, the Maori cultural centre and thermal valley at Te Whakarewarewa in Rotorua.
Cossar has a strong history in the tourism industry, including heading two RTOs, Positively Wellington Tourism and tourism Rotorua (now Destination Rotorua Marketing).
TIA chairman Norm Thompson says the search for a new chief executive for TIA would begin immediately.
